Very Informative

Hurricane Katrina is a book about a natural disaster which hit New Orleans almost ten years ago. It reports vivid and dramatic eye witness accounts. There are stories of courage, resilience and survival. This book has many specifics about the number of people who died, are missing, and contains details about the widespread devastation the hurricane caused.There are a few things I didn’t enjoy. For example, because the publisher chose a pictorial magazine format, they had to put the sentences on weird angles to fit the many photos. Therefore, the words and sentences on the pages seem jumbled and crowded to me. The print varies in size and color and may make some readers feel slightly nauseous. Because of the lack of development of specific topics and relatively few pages (64 - including Table of Contents, Introduction, Glossary, and Index), I would recommend this book for a 7-8 year old. Engaging, informative book. Highly recommended. Appropriate for grades 3-8.
