Review

"Paul brings his talents as a broadcast meteorologist to the pages of 'WOW! Weather!'. His excellent storytelling on the evening news translates wonderfully to this fun and educational book. The creative writing & illustrations will leave both children and adults saying 'WOW!' when they learn about these fascinating weather facts."  --Sam Argier, Meteorologist, FOX Las Vegas"This delightful book is a must-have for all early elementary school educators. Paul Deanno, a popular weatherman, has innovatively combined family, poetry, and his knowledge of the weather to create an amazing book that teaches all of us -- young & old -- something new about the weather in the United States and the world."  --Jane Erdiakoff, Kindergarten Teacher, Walnut Creek, CA "'WOW! Weather!' is a unique take on a children's science book: Paul shows us a child's joy of discovering weather from the CHILD'S perspective. This is no science lecture! We get to witness the pure magic of meteorology. As a parent myself, there is nothing better than watching your children discover new things. It's even better when they are so excited to tell you about it, they might just burst! Paul captures this beautifully and sweetly. I can imagine any of my children talking to me about weather just like the child in the story. As a meteorologist, I love how "WOW! Weather" gets in all of the scientific nuggets, too, that capture the imagination of children of all ages." --Maria LaRosa, Meteorologist, The Weather Channel

About the Author

Meteorologist Paul Deanno has won five Emmy Awards for his work as a broadcast meteorologist in some of the largest television markets in the country. He is also the first broadcast meteorologist to do the weather on all three network morning newscasts: Good Morning America (ABC), The Today Show (NBC), and CBS This Morning. Paul has literally spanned the globe covering the weather. He's flown with the Hurricane Hunters, hiked deep into Glacier National Park to investigate global warming's impact on the ecosystem there, and he's broadcasted from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean onboard the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier for a report on how the military creates its forecasts. Paul's favorite part of his job, however, is spending time with students at local elementary schools. That's the place where he has the most fun sharing his passion for the weather. That's also the reason why Paul started researching the amazing weather facts he used in his first book, "WOW! Weather!". Paul currently works in San Francisco, and lives in the Bay Area with his beautiful wife and three boys.

This book was written by a meteorologist to explain basic weather phenomena to young children. It is a picture book that will give a child very simple information about the weather. Topics include temperature, hurricanes, tornados, hail, thunderstorms, snow, lightning and the sun. I like the fact that the author uses simple comparisons like one cloud can weigh as much as one hundred elephants to help children understand.I read the Kindle edition, and the font was very small even when enlarged. This makes the text difficult for young children to follow. While the illustrations are pleasing, there is not a lot of information given on any one topic. I would recommend the book as a beginning introduction to the concepts of weather for preschool and kindergarten readers.

My son has grown more and more curious about weather & weather phenomena over the past year, and he loves this book. Informative, yet written in words that a child can understand, the rhyming stanzas & child-friendly illustrations will easily hold any preschool or kindergarten age child's attention.

I thoroughly enjoy reading these type of children books, for they always teach my children an important life lesson in a simple and easy way that they can understand. It's important for children today to have morals, and the only way that they will obtain them is if they are taught from a young age.

I bought this book for my niece to help explain weather and why it happens. This doesn't explain anything. It's barely 10 pages and gives one fact about weather on each page. There is a tornado on the cover and it doesn't even mention them. This is completely useless to teach a child how weather is formed and why it takes place. Waste of money.

Having watched Paul Deanno interact with school children, answering their questions and explaining weather phenomena, I am delighted that he has taken his talents to print. This book, beautifully illustrated, will encourage youngsters to ask about the wonders of nature and receive easy-to-understand explanations of such things as thunder, hurricanes and the shapes of snowflakes. Kudos to Paul and his artist and best wishes for a hugely successful series.

Good book for children 4-7. It is nicely illustrated & explains weather events simply & in a interesting way.

Wonderfully illustrated and fun weather facts explained in an easy to understand way. Highly recommended! I purchased for my family members and they loved it.

I love the book - its educational for my grandson, and actually, I learned a lot of new things about the weather myself - things I had always wondered about but never had the chance to ask about weather. Its an easy read and the graphics are pleasing. The title is fitting as I found myself saying "WOW" after each amazing weather fact. I would definitely recommend this book to kids and adults.
