About the Author

Alma Flor Ada was born in Camaguey, Cuba. She has studied and taught in Spain, Peru, and the United States. Her children's books have been published in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Spain, and the United Sates. A recipient of the Marta Salotti Gold Medal (Argentina) and the Christopher Award (United States), Alma Flor Ada has four children and three grandchildren. Love the art! Love the story about la lagartija heroina! My daughter is in kinder and i was worried that it might be too long- not a problem! She loves it, and likes to ask me about the pictures. Very happy with this purchase!

The art and story are absolutely beautiful. I love this book. I bought it for my nephew, i want him to be proud of his roots! And i know this book will help him see the beauty in our culture, people and the land.

My granddaughter has a little pet lizard & loves this story.

Wonderful retelling of a lesser known Hispanic folktale. The Illustrations are beautifully done and add flavor to the story. Also loved the fact that the lizard is a "she."

Cute story with beautiful illustrations and you sure don't find a lot of stories with Aztec characters. That could help spark another discussion.
