In Frog, terms such as spawn and hibernate are introduced, clear definitions are provided, and some of the predators frogs may encounter are discussed. Each book offers a visual time line along the bottom of each two-page spread. The texts are clear and simple with two sentences per page. Kids sign up to "read" it. Maybe two children read on two different days. Pictures are bright and large enough to trace. The children made bean people by tracing the bean for the body. The kids have no problems making inferences from the pictures as they read. They seem to read non fiction books almost as fast as David, Swimmy, Abiyoyo. I read this book during small group about 5 times in 2 weeks. Several children were absent so I read to 1 0r 2 students, too. We planted lima beans, measured and photographed them, cared for them. This book was one of books we used as a resource. All of my books are available after a project ends. This book is still being requested. I bought this copy because I was tired of renewing the same library book.
